About The Story
"What Lies Behind This Hospital Bed"
The play is loosely based on a true story. The show is about a young woman who has been hit with a terminal illness who goes on a journey to find out how she got into the situation she’s in and how to navigate the rest of her life after diagnosis. We learn Lyza’s perspective and about the perspective of the supporters in her corner. Lyza goes through all 5 stages of an individual suffering from an Illness/ Grief :Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression/Guilt, and lastly, Acceptance. The story takes place in the early 2000s.

This is story anyone who has ever battled cancer/ terminal illness/ sickness, suffered from 1 of the 5 stages of grief.

Her acting credits include Love Sex and R&B, Intentions, Runway of Shadows, and HouWood, along with her roles as Madam Eve in Kiwi and Haze in Black Web of Secrets. Her theatre credits include The Kiss That Almost Killed Me. She has trained in comedy improvisation at Houston Improv and scene study with Charnele Brown.
Erica directed and produced her first feature, Mirrors and Reflections, in which she also portrays Ayana. Her production experience includes serving as an assistant director on HouWood and stage manager for Faith for My Family. She now joins What Lies Behind This Hospital Bed as stage manager and understudy for Dr. Brooks.

Tyone Bedford, professionally known as Tipville USA, is an award-winning actor, entrepreneur, and media personality from Kendleton, Texas. He has established himself as a dynamic presence in the Houston entertainment and creative community through his work on stage, in media, and in fashion.
Bedford gained recognition for his award-winning portrayal of Gabriel Maxson in August Wilson’s Fences, earning the 2025 Houston BroadwayWorld Award for Best Supporting Actor. His commitment to storytelling and his ability to bring depth and authenticity to his characters have continued to distinguish him as a rising force in theater.
His stage credits include performances in the Fade to Black Festival production of Valentine’s Day Murder, as well as touring with the award-winning stage production Black Boys Cry. Most recently, Bedford took the stage at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Houston, portraying Samuel, the lead role in Freedom Train.

Page is a voice-over actor, children’s audio producer, and an actress in the award-winning, faith-based movie We Are Stronger, the inspirational TV series Breaking Strongholds, Vindication, Once Upon A Christmas, and several other faith based movies. She is also an international speaker and natural storyteller who speaks with a bold and refreshing honesty. She’s the author of the award-winning book, The Circle of Fire, which tells the story of how her life was changed forever when fire swept through her home, causing the loss of her 22-month-old twin son, Amos; severe, lasting injuries to her other twin son, Benjamin; and her own devastating experience of third-degree burns covering 55 percent of her body. She’s also the author of 20 other literary works.
Justina now inspires audiences with a powerful message of hope and triumph. She’s the Founder & Executive Director of The Amos House of Faith, a nonprofit organization established to provide post-burn support to families affected by burn trauma. She resides in Richmond, Texas, with her husband of 39 years, Pastor James Page. She believes that with God, all things are possible!
